520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc Studies on the insect pest complex of ginger and their eco-friendly management were conducted at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya during 2013. Insect pest complex of ginger and their population dynamics was studied by recording percent infestation of different pests throughout the season. The insect pest recorded were rhizome fly (Mimegralla coeruleifrons Macq.), stilt legged fly (Calobata indica), shoot borer (Dichocrocis punctiferalis), mealy bug (Formicoccus spp.), white grub (Holotricia consanguinea), rhizome weevil (Prodioctes haematicus) and tobacco caterpillar (Spodoptera litura). Maximum population of major insect pests viz., Rhizome fly, stilt legged fly, white grub and mealy bug were observed during August end (22.22%), July end (29.62%), early October (33.33%) and August-September (81.47), respectively. Module consisting of rhizome treatment with mixture of Imidacloprid 17.5 SL@ and Ridomil M-Z @ 5ml each/10 lit of water + foliar application of M. anisopliae (2x10 6 cfu/ml) and Derisom 2EC @ 2 ml each/litre of water at 60 & 80 DAP, respectively was found highly effective against stilt legged fly and rhizome fly under field conditions. Furthermore, module consisting of rhizome treatment with mixture of Imidacloprid 17.5 SL@ 5ml/ 10 lit of water + foliar application of M. anisopliae (2x10 6 cfu/ml) and Derisom 2EC @ 2 ml each/litre of water at 60 & 80 DAP, respectively was found effective against white grub and mealy bug. Rhizome treatment with imidachloprid, chlorpyriphos and soil application of carbofuran with their recommended field doses were found highly effective against all four major pests under laboratory condition even upto 65 days of treatment.
