The pressing need to feed our large population has led to over exploitation of land resulting in its enormous degradation, which is a major concern in present day land-use management. The objective of food security can be met by promoting sustainable agricultural production systems. Increasing agricultural production should not be at the cost of degrading soil and depleting water bodies.
