In the past ten years, India has experienced a remarkable surge in entrepreneurial spirit, especially among the youth. This transformation spans various sectors, driven by an increasing appetite for innovation and a growing pool of skilled professionals. While tier 1 cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi dominate India's startup ecosystem, the landscape is evolving in the Northeast India. The region of Northeast India, renowned for its abundant biodiversity and rich culture, presents unique entrepreneurial opportunities. The startup ecosystem in Northeast India is booming, yet there is limited understanding of how these startups operate. This knowledge gap hinders business success and discourages potential entrepreneurs. This study aims to explore the business model of NE Origins Private Limited, understand its challenges, and help create an atmosphere that is more favorable for entrepreneurs in the region. In light of this, this research was undertaken with the following objectives: i) To study the Business Model of NE Origins Private Limited; ii) To identify the challenges faced by NE Origins Private Limited. This study adopted a case study method with a mixed methodology. The locale of the study was Gangtok, Sikkim. Total enumeration of all the employees was done to collect relevant data. The data collection was conducted through interview scheduled with complete enumeration of all the employes of NE Origins. The information gathered was examined using mixed methodology, employing tools such as the Business Model Canvas, Portfolio Matrix and Garrett Ranking tool. The study's findings reveal that focusing on e-commerce allows the company to efficiently manage inventory, streamline logistics, and maintain direct engagement with customers. This approach also provides valuable data insights into consumer behavior, enabling the company to continuously refine its marketing and sales strategies. Temi Tea and Smoked Pork Pickle are two products with low market share in a low-growth market, considered "Dog" products, typically generating low returns. NE Origins has identified these products as underperforming and has already removed Smoked Pork Pickle due to quality issues. Further, the study identified challenges faced by NE ORIGINS, including logistics, warehouse maintenance, brand awareness, competition with established brands, high operating costs, payment terms with suppliers, integration of tools, and hiring skilled employees. These challenges stem from the unique geographic, financial, and technical constraints of operating in Sikkim. Taking on these obstacles by using strategic investments, improved operational practices, and targeted marketing efforts will be essential for the company's sustainable growth and success in a competitive market environment. Based on the findings this study recommends the strategic location of Warehouse can help in overcoming logistics, warehouse and high operation cost problems.
